Biographical History
Officer in the Revolutionary War. Gansevoort commanded Fort Stanwix during it's seige in 1777 and was eventually promoted to brigadier general of the New York State Militia. He also served as a United States Commissioner of Indian Affairs and was a regent of the University of the State of New York.
Revolutionary War officer and resident of Albany, New York.
Gansevoort was the colonel in command of the Third New York Regiment of the Continental Line.
