Biographical History

Archibald W. Stuart (b. Aug. 31, 1907, Cameron, N.Y.), U.S. Army officer, graduated from West Point in 1930. He served with the 15th Infantry Regiment in China from 1934 to1937. During the World War II years, he was on the policy staff, Military Intelligence Division of the War Department General Staff, and commanding officer, 441st Counter Intelligence Corps detachment. Following the War he served as commanding officer, Allied Translator and Interpreter Service, General HQ, Pacific; and as executive officer, 8th Army, Far East Command. He was commanding officer, 38th Infantry Regiment, in Korea; and commanding general, 8242nd Army Unit in Korea, and 8177th Army Unit in Japan. In the late 1950s, General Stuart served as commanding general, U.S. Army Hawaii-25th Infantry Division.
