Whitehouse, Thomas B. (Thomas Bernard), 1914-

Thomas Bernard Whitehouse (b. 1914, Rochester, N.Y.), U.S. Air Force officer, graduated from West Point in 1939 and earned his pilot wings the following year. During World War II he was assigned to the 14th Fighter Group in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations serving as deputy group commander and group commander, flying 71 combat missions in P-38s. In 1951 he was assigned to HQ of the 12th Air Force, and later as commander, 36th Fighter-Bomber Wing. Following a number of U.S. assignments and further officer education, in 1963 he became commander of the Syracuse and later Boston North American Air Defense Command, Continental Air Defense Command and Air Defense Command Sectors. In 1964 he transferred to the 26th Air Division as vice commander. General Whitehouse retired in 1967.
