Biographical History
Adolph Bandelier was a prominent archaeologist in the Southwest and Latin America. His second wife Fanny Ritter Bandelier was intimately involved with his professional career, most often as a translator. The Bandeliers' were in Spain, locating and translating Spanish documents pertaining to the Southwest, at the time of Adolph's death in 1914. Fanny Ritter Bandelier finished the work in Spain, returned to the United States, and taught at Fisk University until her death in 1936.
