Dr. Will D. Gilliam was born in Scottsville, Ky. on September 26, 1905, attended high school at Scottsville, pursued an undergraduate degree at Centre College in Danville, Ky. and receved his Masters and Ph. D. at Indiana University in 1930 and 1941 respectively. Prior to joining the staff at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Gilliam taught school in the Louisville Public School System, at Centre College and at the Fort Wayne Division of Indiana University. While an associate professor of history at the University of Kentucky, Gilliam wrote this biography of Robert Jefferson Breckinridge.
