Biographical History
Physicist (optical and nuclear physics). Haynes has recieved many research fellowsips, and was Lecturer at the UnviersiteĢ de Paris, 1954-1955. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1942-1945, he was an instructor in electrical communications and was assistant director in charge of the Navy Lecture Program at the wartime Radar School. From 1946 to 1947 he was a visiting scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Also professor and chairman of Michigan State University.
Physicist (optical and nuclear physics). Instructor of physics at Williams College, 1936-1939; French Science Fellow at the Institute of International Education, 1939-1940; Assistant professor of physics, Brown University, 1940-1942; Instructor in electrical communications at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Radar School, 1942-1945; professor of physics at Vanderbilt University, 1945-1957; professor and chairman of Physics Department, Michigan State University, 1957-1969. He remained at the University until 1980.
