Ellis Hovell Minns (1874-1953), Litt. D., Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge, and University Lecturer in Palaeography.
Sir Ellis Hovell Minns (1874-1953), educated at Charterhouse and Pembroke College, Cambridge; in Russia, 1898-1899; Craven Student in Russia, 1900-1901; Fellow of Pembroke College from 1899; President of Pembroke, 1928-1949; Librarian and Lecturer in Russian, Pembroke, 1901-1927; University Lecturer in Palaeography, 1906-1927; Disney Professor of Archaeology, Cambridge, 1927-1939; Professor Emeritus from 1939. Minns's publications include Scythians and Greeks, 1913, and The Art of the Northern Nomads, 1944. He was also the translator and editor of N.P. Kondakov, The Russian Icon, 1927.
Sir Ellis Hovell Minns (1874-1953), archaeologist and palaeographer, was a Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge, 1899-1953, and Disney Professor of Archaeology from 1927. He learnt Russian at the cole des Languages Orientales Vivantes, Paris, in 1898, and worked in Russia, 1898-1901.
