Rogers (A.B. 1649) became pastor of the church at Ipswich in 1656, and was president of Harvard College, from 12 Aug. 1683 until his death on 2 July 1684.
John Rogers (1630-1684) was President of Harvard College from 1682 to 1684. Rogers was born in 1630 in England to the Reverend Nathaniel Rogers and Margaret Rogers. He emigrated to Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1636 with his parents. Rogers studied divinity and medicine at Harvard College and graduated with a Master of Arts degree in 1649. He preached and practiced medicine in Ipswich, Massachusetts. On April 10, 1682, Rogers was elected President of Harvard College. However, his service was short. Rogers died on July 2, 1684 after a brief illness. Rogers married Elizabeth Denison. They had seven children: Elizabeth, Margaret, John, Daniel, Nathaniel, Patience, and Benjamin Marston.
Samuel Nowell served as Treasurer of Harvard College from 1683-1686.
