Biographical History

Franklin Martin Stone (1910-1990) was a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent, lawyer and commissioner of the U.S. Court of Claims. He attended and graduated from Chaffey Jr. College in Ontario, California in 1929 and received his law degree from George Washington University Law School in 1934. Stone served as Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1934-44, specifically as Administrative Assistant to the Director, J. Edgar Hoover from 1940 to 1944. He resigned from the FBI in 1944. During his time as administrative assistant, Stone was supervisor in the sabotage section at FBI headquarters. Until his resignation in September 1944, he was the designated supervisor in charge of the case of the eight Nazi saboteurs who entered the United States in 1942. Stone was also a member of the OSS (Office of Support Services) from 1942 to 1945, and served as general counsel for the Civil Aeronautics Board.
