Biographical History
William K. Reilly was born on January 26, 1940, in Decatur, Illinois and grew up in Fall River, Massachusetts. He married Elizabeth Bennett Buxton. He graduated from Yale University, received a master's in urban planning from Columbia University, and law degree from Harvard University. He served as President of the World Wildlife Fund--U.S. and the Conservation Foundation. He was nominated by President George H.W. Bush on January 20, 1989, to be Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. He served as administrator from February 6, 1989 to January 20, 1993. Following government service, he became a director of DuPont and was a founding partner of Aqua International Partners, L.P., a private equity fund dedicated to investing in companies engaged in water and renewable energy. He also served as chairman of the board of the World Wildlife Fund, co-chair of the National Commission on Energy Policy, and chair of the Advisory Board for the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University.
