Composed 1942. First performance Lisbon, 5 April 1943, Orquesta Nacional, Ernesto Halffter conductor, Leopoldo Querol soloist. Dedicated to the memory of the heroes of Sagunto, Valencia (the composer's birthplace). Awarded the National Prize for Music by the (Spanish) National Ministry of Education, 1942.--Cf.
