Biographical History
The Program for Higher Education of the Disabled was conceived of in 1963 and implemented in 1965. The goal was to provide opportunities for higher education to all academically qualified applicants. In 1981 Hofstra became architecturally barrier free and 100% accessible to the physically challenged.
Student Voices was a newspaper written by Hofstra students for prospective Hofstra students.
Hofstra University once called Nassau College-Hofstra Memorial of New York University was founded in 1935.
The Keynes Conference, arranged by Harold Wattel, Professor of Economics at Hofstra, brought together a variety of economists of different ideologies, including James Tobin and John Kenneth Galbraith. Speakers from Britain, France, Japan, and Brazil participated.
Hofstra University, once called Nassau College--Hofstra Memorial of New York University, was founded in 1935.
The Dutch Festival was started to honor the Dutch ancestry of William S. Hofstra. It became an annual event in 1984.
Sorority formerly called Tau Chi Rho.
In cooperation with District 65, Hofstra offered a degree program for their union members.
