Biographical History

Thomas Cole (born September 1848) was the posthumous child of landscape, portrait and religious painter Thomas Cole and Maria Barstow Cole. The senior Cole died February 11 or 12, 1848, of complications stemming from pleurisy. There were three other children: Theodore (born January 1, 1838), Mary (born 1839), and Emily (born 1843).
