Biography

Joseph Clarence Loughran was born in Saunders County, Nebraska, on July 26, 1873. His parents were Joseph Fox Loughran (1850-1938), a native of County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, and English immigrant Margaret Hayes. Loughran served with the Utah Light Artillery, Battery C, during the Spanish-American War. After settling in Utah he worked as a railway carman. He married Mildred Luciel Toyer (1884-1974), the widow of Hyrum Harper (1880-1919), sometime after 1919. Loughran died in Ogden, Utah, on May 17, 1957.
