Ludmerer, Kenneth M.

American educator, internist, and medical historian. Kenneth Marc Ludmerer (b. 1947) earned his medical degree (1973) and an M.A. (1971) in the history of medicine at Johns Hopkins University. At Harvard, he earned an A.B. in history and science (1968) and was research associate in the Department of History while chief resident at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. (1978-1979). He served his internship and residences (1973-1976) at Barnes Hospital and Cochran Veterans Administration hospitals, affiliates of the Washington University School of Medicine. He joined the faculty of Washington University School of Medicine in 1976, serving as: instructor in internal medicine (1976-1979) and later with joint appointments in medicine and of history in Arts & Sciences as assistant professor (1979-1986), associate professor (1986-1992) and professor (1992- ).
