Indiana University. Vice President for Administration

The Vice President for Administration planned, organized and directed the operation of several administrative units assigned to the President's Office which had system-wide responsibilities for information services, budgetary services and a variety of managerial services. Edgar Williams served in this position from 1974-1987.

Duties of Indiana University's Vice President for Administration included managing the budgets and accounts assigned specifically to the President and his office including payroll, planning and preparing the operating and capital budgets for the University, representing the University before various governmental agencies on budgetary matters, assisting in physical facilities planning and renovation, monitoring retention of academic and administrative personnel records, and reviewing and approving all requests for new administrative and professional positions system-wide.

Edgar Williams served as Vice President for Administration during the period from 1974-1987. During Williams' tenure, the Vice President for Administration planned, organized and directed the operation of several administrative units assigned to the Office of the President which had system-wide responsibilities for information services, budgetary services and a variety of managerial services.

Williams directly supervised the Assistant Vice President for Administration, the University Budget Officer, the Director of Management Information and Computer Services, Director of Internal Auditing, Director for University Security, Director for Long Range Planning, University Affirmative Action Officer and the University Archivist. Williams indirectly supervised the Director of Faculty Records, the University Registrar, the Director of Scholarships and Financial Aids and the Director of the Indiana University Press.
