Biographical History

Christ Lutheran was established by the Board of Home Missions of the Amerian Lutheran Church with M. E. Nesse as organizing pastor. First services were held in the Lake City Community Hall on February 1, 1959 with 218 in attendance. Construction was begun on the present site, and dedication of the first unit was held March 24, 1960. In 1962 the office wing was dedicated, and in 1965 Fischer Hall, an addition, was completed. In that same year, the 1000th member joined the congregation. In 1974, plans for a new church and remodeled education/administration area were adopted with a budget set for $425,000. These units were dedicated February 8, 1976.
