Glasgow University Geographical Society (GUGS), was founded by the Geography department of the University of Glasgow , Scotland. Its aim was to promote geography as a subject. In 2002, the Society still met regularly arranging informative lectures and social events. The Society, or JOGSOK as it became known in later years, also organises a field trip for its members.
In 1955 the Society began its own magazine, The Drumlin . The aim of the magazine was to publish articles by students and staff of the Geography Department, and to publicise the Society itself as much as possible. The first editor of, William R Dunn was largely responsible for the inception of the magazine. He later became a Senior Lecturer in the department of Education at the University. In 2002, The Drumlin was still being published featuring a mixture of serious geography related articles with light-hearted news, stories and cartoons.
