Biographical History

Richard Allott (1745-1832), son of Bryan Allott, rector of Kirkheaton, Yorkshire, was educated at Beverley School in Yorkshire, before matriculating at Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1762 (B.A., 1766; M.A., 1769). He was ordained deacon in 1767, and became rector of Annaduff. He was prebendary of Tuam, 1771-1774, before becoming precentor of Armagh cathedral and prebendary of Armagh. He was dean of Raphoe, 1795-1832. Allott died in 1832 at Beauvirage, near Lausanne.

Allott's son, also called Richard (1783-1858), entered Trinity College in 1801, and became a fellow in 1807. He also followed a career in the Church.
