Biographical History
The London Stereoscopic Company was a photographic company in London, England. It was established in 1854 by George Swann Nottage, and was also known as the London Stereoscopic and Photographic Company. The company published photographs, with William England and Thomas Richard Williams as the main photographers. It was also involved in the manufacture of photographic equipment. The company was dissolved in 1922.
William Edward Kilburn (1818-1891) was a photographer in England.
William Edward Kilburn was born on November 28, 1818 in London, England to Thomas Kilburn and Catherine Ward. In 1846 he opened a portrait studio in London. An award-winning photographer, he was commissioned to take portraits of Queen Victoria and her family during the 1840s. In 1854 he married Louisa Ludlam Tootal, and they had three children. Kilburn died on December 11, 1891 in Whitwell, Isle of Wight.
