Biographical History

The Friends' Boarding House Association was founded in 1877 to establish a boarding house for Hicksite Quakers in the City of Philadelphia. It maintained a property at 1623 Filbert Street until 1893, and then moved to 1708 Race. The purposes of the Association were subsumed in 1897 by Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting with the establishment of the Friends Boarding Home. The Association was finally dissolved in 1913 and the balance of the assets were transferred to the Young Friends Association.
