Biographical History
William R. Boggs was a brigadier general in the Confederate States Army and Chief of Staff of the Trans-Mississippi Dept. from 1862 to 1865.
United States and Confederate officer.
Native of Georgia; graduate of West Point; member of the Corps of Engineers and the Ordnance Corps; served in the Confederate army under Generals Beauregard and Bragg and became chief of staff under Kirby Smith in the trans-Mississippi.
