Biographical History
Hardy (1888-1955) was an animal fiber technologist for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture and was well known for his research on animal fibers and the feeding, breeding, and management of sheep, goats and other domestic animals. He was born in Groveland, Mass., and educated at Rhode Island State College, the University of Tennessee and the University of Missouri. He worked for the Tenn. Agricultural Experiment Station, 1911-1915; the University of Wyoming at Laramie, 1917; Albany Felt Co., 1920-1923; and the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, 1919, 1923-1951. He invented various devices to determine qualities of fibers for industrial uses and wrote a number of scientific papers.
