Biographical History
Teacher and poet of Providence, Rhode Island, and New York.
Anne Charlotte Lynch Botta was an American poet, writer, and socialite. Her salon in Brooklyn was frequented by many prominent 19th century writers, actors, and artists.
Anne Lynch Botta was born in Bennington, Vermont, and moved to New York City in 1840, where she married professor Vincenzo Botta in 1855. She wrote poetry and prose, but is best remembered as the hostess of a literary salon which attracted the city's most eminent (as well as most obscure) authors from the 1840s until her death in 1891.
