Biographical History

The articles in this collection were written by Rose Klein, a writer with an interest in Jewish life and organizations in Worcester, Massachusetts, and the role of Jews in popular fiction up to 1950. Klein used transcripts from "The Massachusetts Spy," originally printed from 1775-1845 and "The National Aegis" for some of her research. "The Massachusetts Spy" was a radical paper owned by Isaiah Thomas until 1802, when he passed the paper along to his son. It often contained anti-Semitic articles.

This collection does not contain original documents.

From the guide to the Rose Klein transcriptions and articles, undated, 1775-1845, 1987-1988, (American Jewish Historical Society)
