Biographical History

Reuben Devereux (1813-1877) was the son of Ralph and Elizabeth Winslow Devereux. A farmer in Penobscot, Maine, he married Ursula H. Lawrence in 1837 and they had five children: Augustus R. (b. ca. 1838), Sarah E. (b. ca. 1842), Charles A. (b. ca. 1844), Mark C. (1851-1937) and Hattie J. (1862-1933) Devereux.

Alfred Hutchings (1804-1869) was a farmer in Penobscot, Maine. Hollis M. Leach (b. 1839) was the son of Charles and Mary Bridges Leach and was also a resident of Penobscot. He enlisted in Company I of the 28th Maine Infantry Regiment in 1862.
