Biographical History

In 1983, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zambia (ELCZa) broke with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, its mission founding church, and the Lutheran Church of Central Africa (LCCA) over theological differences. ELCZa is a member of the Lutheran World Federation. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Division for Global Mission (DGM) began its assistance to the ELCZa by donating equipment in 2001. In 2002 DGM began providing financial support to ELCZa. The ELCA is a member of the Joint Mission Board - Zambia.
