Christ the King Lutheran Church (Milton-Freewater, Or.)

Christ the King was founded through the initiative of the American Missions Board in cooperation with Rev. William Foege of Emmanuel Lutheran in Walla Walla. Christ the King began with a nucleus of Emmanuel members who lived in Oregon but worshipped at Emmanuel since an ALC congregation was not present in either Milton or Freewater. Milton did have a Missouri Synod congregation which was forced to disband shortly before Christ the King was organized. Richared Nieman, founding pastor of Christ the King, was a son of Emmanuel of Walla Walla until age 15. In 1982 a tracker pipe organ was installed. The physical plant was almost doubled in size in 1984 with the addition and expansion of classrooms, kitchen, offices and fellowship hall.
