Biographical History
Loyalist, colonial politician, and turfman of New York City, later removing to England at the outbreak of the American Revolution. After the war he became active in working to help get compensation from the British government for loyalists whose property was confiscated by the Americans.
James De Lancey served as Lieutenant Governor of the Province (Colony) of New York, October 1753 - September 1755, and June 1757 - August 1760.
