Biographical History
B'nai B'rith's Portland Lodge, Number 416, was founded in 1891, primarily by American-born sons of German Jews. It was especially active in aiding those Jews who were living in Eastern Europe. In 1905, it consolidated with Theodore Herzl Lodge, Number 314. When it consolidated with Oregon Lodge, Number 65, in 1918-1919, it became known as Portland Lodge Number 65. Portland Lodge No. 65 was formed in 1919 by the consolidation and various mergers of five earlier B'nai B'rith lodges: Oregon Lodge, North Pacific, Portland Lodge No. 416, Sabato Morais, and Theodore Herzl; exact historical chronology unavailable.
