Arthur Pendleton Bagby was a lawyer originally from Virginia who settled in Claiborne, Ala. He was elected or appointed to the following public offices: Ala. Representative, Ala. Senator, Ala. Governor, U.S. Senator, and envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary to the court of St. Petersburg in Russia.
