Dukeman, Donald W., b. 1923.

Technical Sergeant (TSGT) Donald W. Dukeman was sworn into the Army Air Corps on 20 November 1942 at the Philadelphia Customs House, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He trained and had flight engineer/gunner schooling in the United States until 26 June 1944. He served two years and eleven months in the Army Air Corps while assigned to the Eighth Air Force, 2nd Air Division, 20th Combat Wing, 93rd Bomb Group, 40th Bomber Squadron. He flew in nine combat missions while in the European Theater, ultimately being shot down over German-occupied Holland during Operation Market Garden. Technical Sergeant Donald Dukeman was taken prisoner of war, forced to endure one of the Nazi Black Death starvation marches in northwest Germany for eighty six days and was sent to Stalag Luft IV for eight months. He was liberated on 2 May 1945 near the town of Lubeck, Germany. Before being discharged on 31 October 1945, he earned the Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 2 Service Ribbons, and 3 Bronze Battle Stars.
