Biographical History

Kenneth G. Wilson came to the University of Connecticut in 1952 as a Professor of English. He was employed in that capacity until 1967, serving as Department Head from 1966-1967. In 1967, he was made Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and then promoted to the position of Vice President for Academic Programs in 1970. He became the Vice President for Academic Affairs in 1974, a position which replaced that of the Provost. Wilson served in that post until 1981.

Kenneth G. Wilson came to the University of Connecticut in 1952 as a Professor of English. He served as Department Head from 1966-1967. In 1967, he was appointed Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In 1970, he was promoted to the position of Vice President for Academic Programs. He became Vice President for Academic Affairs in 1974, a position that replaced that of the Provost. He served in that position until 1981.

Anthony T. DiBenedetto was a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Connecticut from 1972-1980, and served as Department Head from 1972-1977. In 1980, he was named Dean of the Graduate School, and Vice President for Graduate Education and Research. In 1981, he became Vice President for Academic Affairs. DiBenedetto held the position until 1986.

Julius A. Elias, who served as Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs (1986-1988), was a professor of Philosophy at the University of Connecticut from 1975-1986, as well as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Coordinator of the Division of National Defense Training.
