Daniel Hiester was a farmer, businessman, and political leader of Pennsylvania and Maryland, as well as U.S. Representative from both states.

Daniel Hiester was a brigadier general of the Pennsylvania militia during the Revolutionary War, and represented Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives from 1789-1796 and Maryland from 1801-1804. He voted in favor of locating the seat of government on the Potomac.
