Biographical History
Steel guitarist. Born January 3, 1917. Died August 20, 1988. Full name: William Leon McAuliffe. Member, Light Crust Doughboys, 1933-1935. In 1935 joined Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys. Formed his own band after World War II. Hit recordings include Steel Guitar Rag (1946) and "Panhandle Rag" (1949). Member, Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.
