Biographical History
Edith Patch, born in Worcester, Mass. in 1876, received a B.S. from the University of Minnesota in 1901, an M.S. from the University of Maine in 1910 and a Ph.D. from Cornell in 1911. She came to the University of Maine in 1903, organizing the department of entomology at the Maine Agricultural Experiment Station there and serving as head of the department from 1904 until her retirement in 1937. An authority on aphids, she was the author of numerous scientific articles, a member of various professional societies and also published 15 books for children. Edith Patch died in 1954.
Edith Patch was born in Worcester, Mass. in 1876 and received a B.S. from the University of Minnesota in 1901, an M.S. from the University of Maine in 1910, and a Ph.D. from Cornell in 1911. She organized the Department of Entomology of the Maine Agricultural Experiment Station and was entomologist there from 1904 until her retirement in 1937.
