Postmaster of North Bloomfield, Trumbull County, Ohio from 1834-1837.
George W. Brown was a leading member of the Benjaminville, Ill., community of the Society of Friends. Primarily a shoemaker, his cobbler's shop functioned also as the town post office and grocery store. He also served as Benjaminville librarian. Born in Preble Co., Ohio, he moved to Illinois about 1870, eventually settling in Bentown, Ill. His first wife, Abigail Sharp, died in 1873. In 1875 he married Rebecca Allen.
