The USS Preble (DDG-88) is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer vessel which was commissioned from Boston by the U.S. Navy on Nov. 9, 2002. The warship is named in honor of Commodore Edward Preble, of Portland, Me., who served in the Revolutionary War and launched the attack on Tripoli in 1803., The Grand Lodge of Maine held a parade and ceremony in honor of the Commodore Preble in Portland on Nov. 9, 2002.
