Biographical History
University Park Christian Church was formed in 1930 by a merger of University Place Christian Church and North Park Christian Church. They held Sunday morning services and had administrative offices at their building at 29th and Kenwood and held Sunday evening services at their building at 40th and Capitol. In 1948 they sold the 29th and Kenwood property and held services in the Sweeney Chapel at Butler University, until 1953 when they moved to their new building at 4550 N. Illinois. The church remained at that location until it closed on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2006, due to dwindling and aging membership.
