Biographical History

Rescue mission; founded in 1910 in Springfield, Illinois by local businessmen to extend the effects of Billy Sunday 1909 meetings in Springfield; facilities included dormitories for men, kitchen, rooms for storing clothes, food, gifts, study room, sewing room, and chapel; ministered to families and individuals in all types of distress; relocated in 1974 due to city construction. Superintendents: Robert Thomas Brown (1911-1940), Robert O. Miller (1940-1970), Mary Brown Miller (1970-1980), and James and Lorraine Beatty (1980- ).
