Biographical History

Ada Sage Etsell was born 9 January 1888 in Bayfield County Wisconsin. She was the 2nd of 4 children born to David and Rosa (Engleman) Etsell. The family moved to Seattle approximately 1899. Ada began the University of Washington in the 1907-1908 scholastic year. She was a member of the Women's Rowing Team, Tyee staff and other social activities. She graduated about 1911 because she began teaching at the Auburn High School in 1912. Mark S. Woodin was born 2 June 1888 in possibly Arkansas City, KS. He attended college at the University of Washington at the same time as Ada Estell. He lettered in sports and was a member of the the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. She had several dance cards from Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity events. Ada graduated and became a teacher at Auburn High School. Ada S. Etsell and Mark S. Woodin were married after 1912. Mark S. Woodin became an engineer that help construct the tunnel for the railroad through the Cascade Mountains. Mark S. Woodin passed away in Seattle on 15 Dec. 1970. Ada S. Woodin probably passed away after Mark did.
