Biographical History
George Franckenstein was an Austrian ambassador, and later a British subject who was knighted. A career diplomat, he traveled widely, including an assignment in Paris after World War I to receive the peace terms imposed on Austria by the Allies. After the war, he became the first legate to Great Britain, and held the office until Germany superseded Austria's independence. He published his memoir in 1939.
