Quinn, J. A. Bob, 1870-1954.

J.A. Bob Quinn started as a minor league player in Indiana, OH in 1888. In 1900, he started as a groundskeeper in Columbus and worked his way up to president. He left in 1917 to become the vice president and business manager of the St. Louis Browns. Six years later, Quinn and two associates purchased the Boston Red Sox. But by 1933, this venture was failing and he sold the team to Thomas Yawkey. Quinn then returned to the minor leagues for one year and in 1934, became the business manager for the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1935, he went to work for the Boston Braves and remained until the mid-1940's. He then worked as a salesman for Wilson and Company but soon retired. That same year, 1948, he accepted the position as Director at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He remained in Cooperstown until 1952.
