Biographical History
An 1805 graduate of Columbia College and an early member of Columbia's Philolexian Society, William M. Price was a distinguished member of the New York Bar with a law practice in Oxford, New York. He went on to become the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. His career ended in disgrace when he fled to Europe in 1838 after embezzling $72,000 from the U.S. Customs Office in New York City.
