Biographical History
Queen Anne began as a mission church sponsored by the ALC Department of Home Missions in February of 1918 with the Rev. P. J. Pflueger as pastor. The site for the present church was purchased, and shortly thereafter construction began on a portable chapel. The church was completed and dedicated in August of 1921, and a parsonage was purchased on Crockett Street. Through the years the congregation grew, and in 1955 two services were being held each Sunday. It was apparent that a new church was necessary. The present sanctuary was completed in 1959, and the south end of the building, including the chapel and library, in 1964. The congregation has been very active in community life and is part of the ecumenical parish of Queen Anne Hill which reaches out to displaced persons, refugee families, the poor, and minorities.
