South Chicago Trades and Labor Assembly.

Organized in 1906 as a central body to represent the interests of all craftsmen, whether organized or not, in the South Chicago area, and chartered under the leadership of the American Federation of Labor that same year.

Frank E. Doyle, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers was elected president of the Asembly in 1943 and remained in that position until 1957. He was then made President Emeritus. The Assembly was active in local activities regarding education, fraternal and civic organizations, hospitals, and city politics and government. It was an especially active proponent of legislation regarding the Chicago waterways, including the creation of the Chicago Regional Port District and the development of the Cal-Sag Channel.
