Biographical History
Samuel Grant (1705-1784) was an upholsterer in Boston, where he also served as town selectman and town moderator. He married Elizabeth Cookson in 1729, and they raised six children, including a son Moses (1744-1817). Moses followed his father into the upholstery trade but also became a wallpaper manufacturer, and was an important figure in the development of the New England wallpaper trade. He took part in the Boston Tea Party and other Revolutionary activities.
