Biographical History

Dr. Perry L. Grady has taught and conducted extensive research in textiles in instrument and control system design and development, computer applications, energy utilization and conservation, electrotechnology applications, fiber and yarn production and properties, and garment and textile care. He is a registered professional engineer with over eighty publications to his credit.

Emeritus Associate Dean and Professor, Dr. Perry L. Grady has taught and conducted extensive research in textiles in instrument and control system design and development, computer applications, energy utilization and conservation, electrotechnology applications, fiber and yarn production and properties, and garment and textile care. Dr. Grady is a registered professional engineer with over eighty publications to his credit. He is co-editor of the books Microprocessors and Minicomputers in the Textile Industry and Automation in The Textile Industry: From Fibers to Apparel . He is a member of the Fiber Society, the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Textile Institute, and ISA-The International Society of Measurement and Control. He is an Honorary Board member of the Hohenstein Institute in Germany.

Dr. Grady has received the Outstanding Extension Award at North Carolina State University. He is the recipient of the Fiber Society Distinguished Achievement Award, the Instrument Society of America Textile Industry Division Achievement Award, and the North Carolina State University College of Textiles Cates-Rutherford Lecturer and Distinguished Alumnus in Fiber and Polymer Science Award. He is a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Phi Lambda Upsilon honor societies.
