Biographical History

After a career in public education as a teacher, principal, and superintendent in school systems in Kansas and Washington state (1922-1940), Pair served for ten years as director of Gregg College in Chicago. In 1957 he founded Automation Institute of Chicago, the first private business school in the Midwest to offer training in electronic data processing. The Institute (also known as the Business Automation Institute, Inc.) was acquired by Control Data Corporation in 1968. Pair was then employed as senior education consultant to the company's education division.
