Dean Park Taylor was born in 1902 in Troy, New York and died in Albany, New York on October 16, 1977. He received his law degree from Albany Law School (1926), was in private practice and served as First Assistant U.S. District Attorney for the Northern District of New York, was Chairman of the Rensselaer County Republican Committee, 1938-1952 and a leader of its conservative wing, a delegate to various political conventions, a member and chairman of the board of the Union National Bank, 1948-1977, a trustee for several institutions in the Troy, New York region and United States Congressman, 1943-1961. In Congress, he served on several committees, including Public Lands, Public Works, Judiciary and others. As Congressman, he received numerous awards for his service to his constituencies. He was an important factor in the receipt of federal funding for the construction of the Uncle Sam Mall.
